TIGARD,
Ore. -- Investigators say a cigarette likely caused a four-alarm
fire in a Tigard apartment complex Tuesday.
Flames gutted several units in the
Manchester Square apartments on Hall Boulevard, sending billows of
smoke over Tigard and injuring four people. Thirty people were
displaced by the blaze.
A tenant said she flicked her lit cigarette off the patio and
then went inside to sleep. Fire investigators believe it ignited
nearby combustibles.
Firefighters remind smokers to properly discard cigarettes.
