Well, I got home soon after the Diablo 2 ladder reset yesterday, played for the rest of the evening, and managed to complete Act 1 and reach level 16. Not too shabby.
Then I looked at the top of the ladder, and the highest person so far was already level 69. I didn’t even appear in the top 1000, with the very bottom of the list being level 24.
And I thought I was obsessed with D2…
Heh. Welcome to the other reason I don’t bother with the ladder anymore… Between not having a hope in Hell of ever even appearing in the top 1K, and the fact that characters get deleted before they’re supposed to…
…it’s just not worth all the effort. :-)
They don’t get deleted at the end of the season, they just lose the ‘ladder character’ flag so they can’t join ladder-only games anymore and get the special ladder-only uniques, runewords, events, etc.
One easy way to appear on the ladder is to play something like a druid in hardcore mode. Hardly anyone was playing those last night, so all someone needed was level 4 to get on the hardcore ladder listing.
Hmm. I’ll give it some thought.
I’m not trying to convince you to, just clarifying some of the info. :-P
I know. Thanks. I’m wondering after the last fiasco (even tho my chars had the 30-day expiration period they *all* got deleted after a day-less-than 2 week inactivity period) if I should convince myself. :-)
