The new iPods are out and…I don’t particularly care. I don’t really feel the need to carry a ton of photos around, and although the black look of the U2 edition *sounded* intriguing, the red click wheel is just too horribly ugly to me.
This now makes me even more tempted to pick up one of the regular 4G iPods though, now that I know it’s not likely to be imminently obsoleted by something vastly better. It’s down to either that or the iRiver hard drive player, and although the iRiver has a couple more features, it’s still slightly more expensive and the iPod/iTunes integration is a big plus and iTMS will be coming to Canada soon…
I don’t really see the appeal of being able to carry around tons of photos on my iPod, either. Just like I don’t really care about surfing the web on my phone. However, it turns out that there are a lot of people who don’t agree.
Video would have been a lot more interesting, though then it’s a matter of whether it’s worth the extra cost and if the screen is good enough. :-) I probably wouldn’t have gone for that either though, as I just need something to listen to while I’m walking around, not something that demands my full attention and would probably result in me walking into the middle of traffic…
I’ve been meaning to write about the whole ‘convergence’ phenomenon, but haven’t really fully collected my thoughts yet, and it’s probably been better discussed by others already anyway.
I’m in half agreement. Photos on an iPod are pointless. Even video would be going too far.
However, black and red are my favorite color combo, and despite the fact it’s U2, I think that thing looks way beyond amazing.
As for convergence, if I’m interpreting it right, perhaps you and I should write something collectively. Perhaps even a black-and-white, if you disagree with my thoughts. Might be interesting.
