Today’s new thing:
Apparently the command-line FTP client in OS X does tab completion on filenames when you’re doing a ‘get’. Neat. I only discovered this one by accident after hitting it out of habit…
Just another useless personal blog

If you want a better command-line ftp client, try http://ncftp.com/
Heh, yeah I use it on the Linux boxes, but I keep falling into the trap of thinking “Eh, it’s just a one-off file transfer, I’m not going to bother installing it for that yet.”
And, having been reminded of it, I’d run off and check the fink package list for it right now. If I hadn’t left the iBook in sleep mode, that is. So of course now I’m going to forget until the next one-off transfer… :-)
On a personal note (like anybody cares), NcFTP sucks huge dead-n-bloated goat arse.
Before they butchered it (as of v3.0), it was a lovely application. However, it’s become convoluted and stinky; like cheese left on the counter in the sun for a few months.
I’ll stick to Un*x-default ftp, if that’s my only option.
$0.02 injected. Mr. Asshole shutting up now. :-)
